Micro Switches In-depth Analysis and Comprehensive Guide
A micro switch, also known as a micro-agile switch, is a small electrical component with an exquisite design and sensitive response. Its core function is to accurately capture the slightest change in the position of an object. The switch is ingeniously constructed, combining a spring-driven rod or roller, precision electrical contacts, and an efficient actuator. Once the actuator is touched by a slight external force, its internal contacts will quickly close or open, thereby achieving instant start-up or disconnection of the circuit, showing a high degree of flexibility and reliability.
Micro switch working mode
External force: When external mechanical force (such as pins, buttons, levers, rollers and other transmission elements) is applied to the button of the micro switch, this force will be transmitted to the spring sheet.
Energy accumulation and action: As the external force increases, the spring sheet begins to be compressed and accumulates energy until it reaches a critical point. At this point, the spring sheet will instantly release the accumulated energy and push the contact to displace. This displacement will cause the contact state between the contacts to change, usually a quick connection or disconnection between the moving contact and the fixed contact.
Circuit on-off: The connection or disconnection of the contact directly determines the on-off state of the circuit. When the contact is closed, the circuit is energized; when the contact is disconnected, the circuit is de-energized.
Reverse action: When the external force is removed from the button, the spring sheet will return to its original position due to its own elastic force. This reverse action will also cause the contact to displace and return to the initial contact state, thus completing the entire switch action cycle.
On the contrary, once the external force is removed or weakened to below a certain threshold, the actuator in the micro switch will automatically reset to its initial state by virtue of its built-in spring mechanism or sophisticated mechanical design. This process causes the contacts to separate, thereby cutting off the circuit and terminating the flow of current. This state is referred to as the 'off' or 'open' state in the industry.
In general, the core mechanism of a micro switch is to accurately convert subtle mechanical movements into changes in electrical signals. It can keenly capture environmental changes, such as pressure changes, object movement or position adjustment, and respond quickly by closing or opening the circuit. This feature makes micro switches shine in a variety of occasions that pursue precise control and instant response, including but not limited to being key components such as limit switches, safety switches, and push button switches, and are widely used in various fields.
Micro switches are widely used in electronic equipment, instrumentation, mining, power systems, household appliances, electrical equipment, and military fields such as aerospace, aviation, ships, missiles, tanks, etc. In these fields, micro switches play an important role and provide stable and reliable control functions for various equipment.
In summary, micro switches have become an indispensable and important part of modern electronic equipment with their unique working mode and wide application fields.
