The Material of Metal Button Screw Feet

    The screw feet of metal buttons are made of various materials, and each material has its own characteristics.     Pure copper material: Pure copper has excellent electrical conductivity and is one of the main materials for button screw feet. It is especially suitable for functional pins such as normally open (NO), normally closed (NC) and common pin (COM). Since copper is easily oxidized, in order to enhance its oxidation resistance, the copper surface is usually plated with nickel, silver or gold. This coating not only prevents oxidation of the copper surface, but also improves its corrosion resistance and extends the service life of the button.

 

    Silver-plated copper: Silver-plating on the surface of copper can further improve durability. The silver-plated copper material not only maintains excellent electrical conductivity but also resists oxidation. It is especially suitable for frequently used metal buttons to ensure good long-term contact. Although silver will oxidize and turn black, silver oxide conducts electricity well, so it will not significantly affect the performance of the button. Silver-plated copper is suitable for occasions with higher requirements and has high cost performance.

 

    Gold-plated copper: Gold-plated copper is a high-end material treatment method that is often used on electrical components that require very high contact stability. Not only is gold highly resistant to oxidation, it also ensures good electrical conductivity in humid or corrosive environments, making it suitable for critical electrical contacts. However, due to the high cost of gold plating, it is only used in high-end buttons or important circuit components.

Brass: Brass is an alloy of copper and zinc. It has high mechanical strength and corrosion resistance. It is suitable for use as screw feet that require high strength. Although the electrical conductivity of brass is slightly lower than that of pure copper, it can still provide good electrical conductivity under suitable conditions, so it is often used in some buttons that do not have particularly strict electrical performance requirements.

 

    Stainless steel: Stainless steel is used as a grounding foot or structural support component in some buttons. Stainless steel has very high corrosion resistance and mechanical strength, making it suitable for use in harsh environments. However, stainless steel has poor electrical conductivity, so it is generally not used for primary electrical contact legs, but rather to improve the stability and durability of the structure.
